Followed all the steps but still no luck. I actually do not have even the browser icon. The only way I could try to open the browser is to select ‘switching application’ and select the browser icon there and of course got the ‘Your device does not currently…etc’.

Yes, I have both. I tried to go into to browser and only see ‘Default browser configuration: ‘ The rest is just a blank screen. I have no option to change anything.

I checked and noticed that under service book, IPPP for BIBS [IPPP] is disallowed and I could not change it to allow.

@Sam: So I assume that you have both the BlackBerry Internet Browsing Service [Browser Config] and IPPP for BIBS [IPPP] service books. Something else to try. From the homescreen, navigate to Options > Advanced Options > Browser — make sure that default browser configuration is Internet Browser, not BlackBerry Browser.

Tried it: deleting and undeleting that was outline to go around it but still stuck without browser and no internet access. With BIS, does the service book include browsers? I only see one icon in BIS in sending and the description only list for emails and nothing about browsers. Thx.

I did and still no browser. It just reaffirm that my hotmail is working that’s all. I still do not have the browser icon and no access to the web. Do I have to have a certain bb desktop manager version to do the upgrade properly? At this point, I am willing to reformat everything and anything to get it to work again. Thx.

You need to log into Sprint’s BIS website (http://bis.na.blackberry.com/html?brand=sprint), and resend your Service Books.

I tried updating to 4.5 but somehow my browser is missing (couldn’t access the web) and it is saying that internet service book is missing and need to contact my service provider (Sprint) to resolve. I called but of course the Rep is clueless. Anybody know how to resolve this? Thx advance for the help.

Do any of you use MidpSSH? I’m an It Consultant, and I use this app on occasion to SSH into customer sites. I installed this new Sprint release today, and now my MidpSSH connections don’t work. Telnet sessions work fine, but SSH connections don’t.

Or does anyone know of a different free SSH client that will route through a BES? The ASA’s and PIX’s I connect to are pretty locked down, and deny any SSH connection that doesn’t come from our BES.

I already did resend Service Books, which is why I asked the question. I am guessing that it is something that my service provider (Verizon) would need to support, but that isn’t going to happen anytime soon as they do not yet support OS 4.5 fro the 8830. Does anyone know how to push another carrier’s Service Book to a device?

As I said, there are 2 MMS entries under Service Book (advanced options).

They were actually there before I forced a refresh of the Service Books (by going to Sprint’s BIS site and asking for a refresh of Service Books). I suspect that the books were pushed out during the install process.

Can’t hurt to refresh your Service Books.

Yes, I have two new service books: MMS Client, MMS Transport.

There is a MMS item in Options, as well as a menu item in Messages to create an MMS message.

Downloaded and installed on my Sprint 8830. Other than the inclusion of MMS, I don’t see much different. Not that I expected new functionality.

We’ll see if stability or performance is improved.
