Developer: Tateu Cost: Free

blackberryweather BBWeather has been around for awhile. I remember using it on my 7230 back in the day. Joey over at BBNews found that Tateu released a new build of the free BBWeather application with some key improvements.

  • Hourly forecast! (by far my favorite new feature)
  • Customize the number of hours and days for forecast!
  • Customizable icon can show current temperature and conditions
  • Full screen for current weather and forecast
  • Adjust your font size
  • New shortcuts
  • Better support for new devices.
  • Ability to use BBWeather over WiFi only
  • Easy to lookup your location ID from your zip code

You can pick up the latest version of BBWeather at this link OTA:

  1. Great application! Thanks!

  2. Wow! I have been an advocate of WeatherEye for a very long time, but I had two problems with WeatherEye: Limited cities, and limited forecasting. I however loved to dynamic Homescreen icon and UI. While BBWeather doesn’t have as nice a UI, it has a more dynamic Homescreen icon, better city choices, and better forecasting. I have uninstalled WeatherEye and this is now my weather app of choice! Well done!

  3. Tateu also have other software available OTA on your BB from: http://www.tateu.net/software/

Here is a step by step on How to get this to work in CANADA. After opening the app “Hit your menu” and click on “Options” you should see at the top this “current profiles highlight it and then “Hit menu” and you will see”ADD” Click on it. You will see Location ID” ( type in city and prov) then “Hit your menu” and you will see Lookup Location click on it. Then click ok and save. That’s it your all Done!

I sure like this one over weatherEyE! Its a keeper!

  5. This is a great app. I wish it had radar and sat, then it would be perfect. Certainly beats paying for other programs!!

    Would not install for
Me said I was missing a module?

This application requires the following module, which is not installed:

Anyone else finding the doesn’t support Storm well? Keyboard always “up”, and seems to not support landscape.

  9. Storm / 148 / UsingPlazmic 4_7 to develop my own person theme called Zen Tesla with a very whippy custom homescreen.

Frustrated with WB, so I am trying out BBW – you have a very selective/elite name for your package ! BBW installed in Banner via Device Application Order slot, since using Third Party App module name BBWeather in Composer box becomes touchy.

So, with a flick of my wrist – going from (custom screen / portrait) to (app screen / landscape) and back, the temperature reverts to an earlier reading from the same day. If I then navigate in portrait over to the app screen and back, the temperature resets to its current (true) reading. Does it every single time. Get the same results with, gulp, WB. Possible that OS twiddles slot # between portrait and landscape. Noted that when in app screen, going from portrait to landscape and back, BBW icon’s temperature is rock solid.

Although my scenario custom/portrait to app/landscape seems exotic, it really is not.

As is all over CrackBerry, Device App Order is touchy. Does NOT like me messing with things like Normal and Focus icons. For the Storm Banner, white alphanumerics on a black background should be the default in my view.

Finally, in setting BBW Options, if you will highlite in red the sections requiring the user to check a box, then dorky guys like me won’t gloss over them 3 or 4 times in a row before coming to my senses or trying to growl at the softwear folks.

  10. What’s great about this app is that the icon displays the current temprature and conditions on the home screen.

It seems to lag behind in updating the forecast at the pre-determined intervals.
