FAQ: Easily Add Hebrew Fonts To Your BlackBerry OTA & Using Your Desktop

hebrewalphabetI get a request about once a week about how to add Hebrew fonts to your BlackBerry. It has been possible for quite awhile to add Hebrew fonts to your BlackBerry by installing a multilingual OS on your device but you had to hunt around for the right one. The problem is that you had to reinstall your OS to get the Hebrew font to work which turned away many people who were interested.

Smartmouth let me know that created a download page where you can easily find the right files to install Hebrew fonts on your device. The best part is that you do not need to reinstall your OS to get Hebrew fonts since this installs like an application. Smartmouth set it up that you can even add some of the read only fonts OTA but if you want to be able to write with the fonts you will need to do this using the desktop install files on the same page.

Check it out at www.cheservices.com/blackberry/

Right now this method supports:

  • OTA Hebrew Read Only & Menus:
    • BlackBerry Storm, 83XX Curve Series, 88XX Series, 82XX Pearl Flip Series, Bold 90XX Series, & 7290
  • Desktop Manager Hebrew Read & Write support:
    • BlackBerry 8900 Curve, 83XX Curve Series, 88XX Series, 82XX Pearl Flip Series, Bold 90XX Series

If you have a device not supported above just send the author an email using the link at the bottom of the page.

    תודה רבה לכולכם
I already had Hebrew based on some earlier instructions but just comparing the .COD modules to what I have, it looks like this might have added some extra support.

  5. Hi,

Thank you for posting the link for Hebre font. Quick question before I install it:

I have the BB bold – if I were to install the hebrew forn – will everything be in hebrew – including menus ? or just the emails in hebrew.

I am interested to have all in english – just the emails that arrive in hebrew – to display in hebrew – is it possible ?

Thans in advance for all your help !
