A couple agents sent in links to OS 4.7.0.103 for the 9530 CDMA Storm. No idea what is new in these but I am sure somebody will report back in the comments.

Let us know what you find in the new OS versions in the comments below. Keep the tips coming!
NOTE: Do not install this software if you do not know what you are doing. It may make your BlackBerry FUBAR or just plain angry.

Installed and so far so good, activating with my BES right now. I have only bee using for a couple of minutes, but here are some of my first thoughts:
-Still has the color depth problem that .99 had.
-Memory is sitting at 49.1MB
-Accelerometer seems a little (read barley measurable) faster.
-Camera works like .99
I will post more later, when I have a chance to install all my apps and use it for a little longer.

Oh Yeah! Downloading now, can’t wait to see what goodies are in here. 99 was such a nice build, can’t wait!

This is getting much closer to a perfect release. Or at least where it should have been before they put it on the market.
Here’s some highlights I’ve noticed so far.
- 3rd party applications were restored this time. They didn’t with .99
- Transitions are fastest yet. No noticeable lag.
- Alerts are working for all applications. It was not always working 100% in .99.
- application launching faster, more memory available.
- no noticeable change with camera so far.
- portrait/landscape transitions faster.
Overall it’s been really good so far. It’s an improvement to an already good .99 release. I will update after I have some more time with it.

Anybody have any experience with music playback yet? Seems to me that unless that’s all fixed now there’s not much here to go to the hassle of upgrading. I mean, come on RIM, what is so HARD about fixing the damn camera??? It shouldn’t take 3-5 seconds to take a picture after pressing button like it does on .99.

Haven’t had enough time to make a final judgment but I have noticed camera time is down to 2 seconds (maybe 2.5).
One strange thing was after taking a picture a few hours ago it crashed and rebooted. I have taken may pictures since without problem so who knows.
Definitely feels zippier, good build so far. Hope music playback is stable (it was in .99)

I have a quick question. I have BES activated currently, with the .75 version. I’ve wanted to wait for a more stable build and I think .103 will do it for me. Unfortunately, It won’t allow me because I have BES. Now I’ve gotten past that, but it only seems to reinstall the core application, but not .103. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

@Steven:
Not sure I follow you on “only seems to reinstall the core application”. What do you mean by core application but not .103???
Oh, and are you using desktop manager, loader.exe, JL_Cmdr, or what to install with? If you are trying to use 4.7 DM, dump that and drop back to 4.6, by many reports 4.7 DM has big problems for many (me included).
Check out the .99 thread here for more tips how to get an OS loaded. If you’ve got to the point where you are past BES policy restrictions those tips should get you running with either .99 or this .103.

DavidB -
Sorry I was not clear. I see what you mean. I’m stuck at .75. I have BES, but I am not past the point with BES’ policy restrictions. That’s where I am stuck currently. I thought it would update after I ran the .103 installer, it did not. It said to check with my IT dept etc bla bla. I need to bypass that restriction. Thanks David.

@Steven:
I am by no means a BES expert (nor do I play one on TV).
There ARE ways I have seen, specifically using an applications such as JL_Cmdr. It can (from what I’ve read, no personal experience) completely wipe a Blackberry including removing any BES policies that may be in force. I suppose you can go that route and then install .103 or .99 or whatever (I’m sticking with .99 for now) but I know not what would happen then as far as getting it back on your BES. Perhaps someone more BES knowledgable will chime in here, or you could do some research in the BB forums at Crackberry or Pinstack or Howard Forums and find some in similar shoes and read what they did. Sorry I can’t help more. Good Luck!!!

so what’s the deal with recorded videos? on the stock os (4.7.0.75, if memory serves), video recording and playback seems to work fine even thought it doesn’t show the type of file that was created. but in os 4.7.0.99 and 4.7.0.103, it clearly shows that the file is a 3gp file, and playback fails every time.
anyone?

@sgt-d:
My storm running .99 and my friend’s running .103 are both able to record and play back video they recorded. Or am I missing what you’re saying?

I ended up wiping my device through “security options” I’ve since put on .103, which was a hassle, but now I know the process. People will love it, I guarantee it. The general functions have sped up, new features like the portrait full keyboard (though i’d be interested in the landscape suretype keyboard myself). Little quirks like an actual “GO” button when you’re in the blackberry browser so you don’t have to hit the ‘enter’ key twice. the full keyboard in portrait mode does a decent job rendering what you mean if you mess up. the lettering in the full keyboard on landscape mode are more spaced apart making typing a lot easier too. I could go on. OH, and everyone needs to check out this new theme called “AppleBerry” I have it and it is amazing for those of you on .103. Nearly Flawless!!!!! http://crackberry.com/free-appleberry-theme-blackberry-storm

OTA Install Link for those who are interested. http://www.edu-rate.com/Complete/com_plazmic_theme_AppleBerry.jad. It’s definitely worth a look. Did I mention that locking and unlocking is incredibly faster now!
