strandsplayer Sohood let me know about a piece of software I am surprised we have not mentioned before. Its called Strands Social Player and is intended to help you find music you will like on your Berry. Kind of like a social network for music. The features sound pretty cool and it is definitely worth checking out if you listen to music on the go. It even includes & Twitter scrobble support.

The desktop install can be found at this link on the product page but I cannot seem to find an OTA install option. Let me know if you find one.

  1. I would like to have that application. But lack of OTA is a major inconvenience to me. I won’t be booting into a Windows machine anytime soon.

  2. Need an invite code, otherwise you just sit in beta land waiting for someone to get back to you.

  3. This program isn’t quite what I was expecting. I was hoping for something like Slacker, where you can listen to new music from their servers.

Strands is more of a monitor for stuff you have put on your memory card to listen to. Pretty much just a Scrobbler (for those users).

It’s interesting, and I probably won’t delete it quite yet, but not what I was expecting.

  4. This looks like something I’d like to use, since currently there’s no other way really to scrobble my songs to from my BB. The problem is that this program keeps hanging (and eventually getting terminated) at the “Building Library” step. Rather annoying.

  5. Okay, I got it installed but it won’t let me connect to anything.

I couldn’t create an account using the application so I did it through my browser. When I try to sign in using the app it keeps telling me invalid user/pass. Same thing for my Twitter.

Not off to a good start.

  6. Anyone successfully got it to scrobble to It shows a scrobble option under twitter settings, but i dont want to fill up twitter with every freaking song i listen to.

  7. I have this app installed and it works accept I keep getting an error (invalid username/password) when I try to log into twitter to scrobble there. It works fine for, but no joy for twitter, any help?
