FREE OnToCalendar v3.5.9 Released – Inviting Sender To Meetings & Experimental Tasks Reminders/Due Dates

Developer: SoundsLikeObiwan Cost: Free

I am just loving OnToCalendar right now. It is a free (opensource) application created by SoundsLikeObiwan that gives you a few more menu options in the email application. It simply lets you add a email including the subject as a calendar item or task.

Nikolaus let me know that with version 3.5.9 things just got better. You can now have the application globally add the sender of the email to the calendar item as a meeting invite. They have also added experimental support for setting global reminders and due dates for tasks. I got a Java Null Pointer error while trying that feature out but hopefully the upcoming version 3.6 will fix that.

I will keep you up to date on the updates. You can pick up the latest beta at the links below:

Keep up the good work SoundsLikeObiwan!

  1. Ronen change the “task due in” to 1 day
Got rid pf the java exception

  2. PocketInformant — while not free — has this feature too. The difference is that PI allows you to use the PI interface to add a custom alarm time for each appointment individually and assign categories. I also used to use BerryLogic’s “Add To Calendar” app, but that company/individual seemingly “disappeared” from the Internet, so I am glad to see another developer take on this type of app. It’s a glaring oversight on RIM’s part, so it’s nice to know that users have several options to add this capability to their devices.

Eric, PocketInformant looks rad but it is not Storm compatible yet although betatesters are working on it….
