Viigo Update Adds Article Twitter Posting, Custom Stock Portfolios & Movie Lookups

The latest release of Viigo’s project Tango adds a few new major and minor features to the application. My favorite is the new functionality that allows you to post an article to Twitter using TinyURL.

You can pick up the latest version at

viigotwitter New in this release:

One-click Twitter posting

Viigo has added the ability to tweet articles from all services directly so people can share what they find interesting with the world using a quick launch button.Viigo automatically adds a 25-character tinyURL, giving you more room to write.

viigotwitter2 Find out what’s playing in a theater near you

Viigo has added the ability to look up movies and movie times from the application. That way you can easily find what is playing near you.

Custom stock portfolios

Viigo now allows users to create their own customized portfolios/watch lists. Users can create multiple portfolios, each containing a list of stock and mutual fund tickers.

viigotwitter3Flight service improvements

The flight service has been modified to give people real time status of the flights in their itinerary. In addition, the service is much faster. A result of this enhancement is that users will no longer be able to access the status of their itineraries when their device is out of coverage.

Quick launch buttons

Viigo has enhanced the item description screen. When you are reading articles, at the bottom of the item description screen, you can now access quick launch buttons to perform the most common actions typically required from this screen.

The available buttons are: a) Email article to friend b) Send article to myself c) Tweet an article of interest d) Post to Del.ic.ious e) Full article f) Open in browser. The Tweet an article action is new to this version. This option is fully described in the Social Networking section. The other buttons perform the same action users have been used to in previous version, the only enhancement is that these are now available as quick launch buttons rather than from the Blackberry Menu.

Viigo has partnered with Mobihand and Magmic (the Bplay store) to bring you shopping channels of the latest mobile software, software accessories, games, themes and more. Each of the shopping channels allows users to preview a list of Mobihand’s and Bplay’s products in that category. Opening an item provides the details of the product with a “Buy Now” hyperlink. Clicking on the Buy Now link will launch the external browser where the user can complete their transaction.

  1. Cool if I dump this Storm at least the new stuff I’m getting used to will be available on my trusty 8830.

  2. How much of a resource-hog is this app? And how big is the file?
