Verizon To Launch Wireless Network Extender Using Femtocells – January 25
Engadget Mobile got the inside info on Verizon’s Femtocell rollout coming January 25th. These are like Sprints AIRAVE mini cellphone towers that work over your wireless network to improve your coverage. These little cell towers will run you about $250 come January 25th which is a bit pricey if you ask me. Personally I always felt like carriers should be heavily subsidizing these devices since they are not paying you to use your home internet connection to provide wireless service. Just like Sprints AIRAVE the Verizon femtocell will have GPS built in to make sure you are using it in the US.
