One of our anonymous tipsters just sent in a link to OS 4.7.0.88 for the 9500 GSM Storm. These incremental updates all seem to do with speed but some of them are a bit buggy so be careful.
You can find the link here:

As per the norm, thanks to the tipster (and the uploader), you know who you are…
NOTE: Do not install this software if you do not know what you are doing. It may make your BlackBerry FUBAR or just plain angry.

Crutial_Xtreme on Crackberry warns users not to install this due to some major issues. I’d recommend skipping it as he works for RIM and knows what he is talking about.

Wow! And I just installed it. Dang it!
What I did find in my brief playing around with this version is the Locking takes approx 12 seconds to show up as Locked, but pressing Lock and clicking the screen once will make it lock immediately.
The other thing I found was the video in media player can be forwarded and rewound, but it’s not very intuitive and the movements are gross, not fine. Gross as in it has to be in large increments, I couldn’t find a way to make fine minute by minute adjustments.
The other finding I have is the VSOD is still there. It takes approximately three battery pulls for me before the phone will work as normal. It is somehow linked to the media card, because when I formatted the card and blank with nothing on it, the phone will boot up without the VSOD. As soon as I put stuff on the card, and I reboot, the “3-times” battery pull sequence starts again.

Sigh…
Hope VSOD doesn’t become the plague of 4.7 like the memory leak in 4.2 has been.

The device won’t charge through the regular charger after installing .88. (Will take a USB port charge but not off the mains)
