Every once in awhile I get asked by a friend why their Gmail account gets email faster than another one of their accounts. I always explain that RIM worked with a few large webmail companies to speed up delivery of emails received through them. The problem was that I never really had a complete list of the webmail services that offer this.
Turns out that RIM has finally provided me with an answer in a compiled list.
Enhanced integration of webmail accounts is available with the following service providers:
- AOL
- Near real-time delivery of email messages
- AOL Mail icon on the BlackBerry smartphone Home screen
- Yahoo!
- Near real-time delivery of email messages
- Yahoo! Mail icon on the BlackBerry smartphone Home screen
- Gmail
- Near real-time delivery of email messages
- Windows Live Hotmail/MSN
- Near real-time delivery of email messages
- Premium account is no longer required for BlackBerry Internet Service email account integration
- Hostopia
- Near real-time delivery of email messages
- GoDaddy
- Near real-time delivery of email messages
BTW: Anybody use Hostopia??? I have never heard of these guys before…

My gmail is terrible compared to my yahoo or BIS account. Any tips for speeding it up?

um just fwd your gmail directly to your BIS account email address. that is real-time. its what i’ve done for years. works perfectly.

But then you lose all the great functionality of Gmail lables, etc. Gmail on my 8330 Verizon is VERY fast.

Having to forward from one email address to another sorta defeats the purpose of having the gmail address.
My domain that’s hosted on gmail functions flawlessly.

Gmail works like a charm on mine
I enabled imap, and disabled pop on my gmail account settings

Hostopia appears provides Webmail services to the likes of your ISP. I have my domain and email hosting with Telus Communication, and their webmail service seems to be from Hostopia. In addition, I get my emails as quick or quicker than my telus.blackberry.net email address (if thats possible!).
Cheers

Hotmail takes a few hours to refresh with my Telcel 8100, and when it syncs all the messages come rushing in, even after being read via the browser
