The garage door opening has zero appeal for me, but the AV control sure does. I have been seeking a unified solution that supports my PS3's Bluetooth as long as it also somehow supported the IR on all my other gear.

Sounds silly, but the main reason I would prefer this to a traditional remote would be safety. One of the new crimes out there if thieves to hunt out people with GPS in their car ( I have an in-dash model), steal the car or gps, turn on the GPS and find home in your favorites ( or take the address from your glove box and plug it into the GPS), navigate to your house, and use your garage door opener to get into your garage. If it were reasonably priced, I'd give it a go!
