When I am traveling around the world I always hate having to scrounge around for a adapter that will let me charge my BlackBerry while there. When I went to Israel a few weeks ago I ended up going to Staples and buying a nice Targus one for $25. Yesterday I had somebody send me a link to this Hong Kong wholesaler that sells a world travel adapter WITH a USB port.
I saw these online before but they were all in the $30 range so I did not see the point then. BudgetGadgets.com is selling them for only $12.02 with free shipping. I have never purchased anything from BudgetGadgets before but now I am definitely going to try them out. $12 over Paypal is not that much of a risk for 60%+ off. The downside is that shipping takes 5-12 days to arrive from Hong Kong but I guess you will need to order early if you want it for an upcoming trip.
They also have a really cool looking solar charger for only $18.24. It includes an adapter for mini-USB which should work on every new BlackBerry except for the 8900 and 8220 since they use micro-USB. The 15% efficiency of the solar charger is lower than the high efficiency 33% kind but those are usually much more expensive. It even has a built in 1000mah battery so you could always just use it as a backup charger…

Pretty cool stuff. I will report back when I get mine!

Too cheap in my eyes, seen enough cases in the past where cheap 3rd party chargers blew mobile devices. Besides, I’d rather support the local economy or at least a local reseller who also provides warranty and service – just in case. 🙂
