I know many of you CDMA 9530 Storm users have been looking for the latest and greatest OS to load on your Storm. Secret Agent 3.14159 just sent us a link to OS 4.7.0.83 for the 9530 CDMA Storm that was found on the interweb. I don’t know what’s new but chances are it is an improvement.
It was spotted online at:

Let us know what you find in the new OS versions in the comments below. Keep the tips coming!
NOTE: Do not install this software if you do not know what you are doing. It may make your BlackBerry FUBAR or just plain angry.

geez, you all are here talkin about 4.6 and 4.7, heck im still stuck at 4.2 on alltel cuz they will not release anything for the 8830, as its being phased out…right from the horses mouth…and this comes just 11 months after they shafted me into getting the 8830 cuz ‘its the best top blackberry on the market and we back it 100%’. what a crock!! down with them!! im stuck now and forced to get a new phone if i want to keep up. i tried to do the online upgrade, but have no clue how to. i almost bricked it one time….so you all have fun with 4.3 4.4 4.5 4.6 and 4.7….just snail mail me at

I just updated without any issues. We’ll see how tomorrow goes. I really hope it stops the 5 times a day rebooting issue.

This release significantly increases overall performance of the unit, speed, accelerometer, etc.
@ Rob
There are unofficial 4.5.x releases for the 8830 around online if you look
@Berry Review
FYI the storm browser in this version loads the MOBILE version of the BR site, not the desktop version and the “exit mobile edition” link just reloads the mobile edition. You may need to do something with browser recogniton or something

@brayndeded:
Dude, NOBODY has released an offical 4.5 for the 8830. Search this site though, easy to find several 4.5′s. I am running 4.5.0.101 on my Verizon 8830 and it is great and stable.
Um, whoever told you 8830 is being phased out is a misinformed idiot. 87xx devices are, but for sure not 8830. RIM must have a no camera Blackberry in their lineup for the corporate/govt clients who prohibit such things.

@sovak:
I think something changed on the site. It looks very different even on my 4.5 8830 today.

Yeah we have been working on seriously optimizing the site over the last few weeks. Expect quite a few changes and much faster load times.

Good to know. I’ll let you know if I have any more hiccups. I finally have a mobile browser that formats like a desktop and love being able to see everything without accessing my PC.

quick question, new to thing but does this .83 update work with US Verzion Storms, or does it not matter at all what its for!

Works for any 9530 CDMA Storm (Verizon, Teuus, or Bell). Does NOT work for 9500 GSM (Vodaphone)

anyone reading this who has yet to upgrade but wants to I would recommend skipping .83 and going straight to .85
http://rapidshare.com/files/177274456/9530AllLang_PBr4.7.0_rel120_PL4.0.0.107_A4.7.0.85.exe
Much better SPEED and most of the .83 bugs are squashed.
