Aerize is great for when you are using the speakerphone so you can just glance down and see who the message is from and if it is possibly something relevant to the call at hand. That’s one thing I really like about using Aerize on the Bold. I also have a 8900 and without the 3G it sucks not being able to send messages and use the phone at the same time.

For the strom users, I would wait before upgrading/installing. Some of us are having issues in which sms displays the pop up, but email doesn’t.
Separate Email and SMS inbox access doesn’t work either.

One more question – is there a way to have this work with Gmail application for BB? I get my gmail through that application specifically but the alerts don’t seem to work for that.

When I was downloading it the version was 1.1.2 and when installed it says 1.2. Strange!
