FYI: Comment System Reverts Back To Normal

Back in the day Coke-Cola learned from their "New" coke recipe that new does not always mean better. A few weeks ago we announced that we were trying out a new commenting system from the guys at IntenseDebate. The features IntenseDebate offers are awesome but they come with too many drawbacks for us to keep at the current time. We will be reverting to the tried but true previous comment system. Thanks for bearing with us during the trial.

Sadly IntenseDebate was slowing down every single page on BerryReview. It made most pages jump from ~18 HTTP requests to ~47+ and just caused the site to be sluggish in general. The reply to comments by email feature was great but did not work all the time and comments were just randomly disappearing. (Sorry about that) We tried to resolve it with the good guys at IntenseDebate but they seem to be struggling with getting the product stable before speeding it up and we just didn’t see enough of a benefit to make it worthwhile in its current state.

Hopefully we can find a way to get some of these features in the future without all the drawbacks. Until then enjoy the simpler side of life at BerryReview.

    Since it didn’t work with the mobile version of the site it was pretty useless.

    I had to turn it off due to a bug that caused it to say every answer was wrong… Looking into something else…

    we also stopped ussing it on blackberrylatino.com
    nice application, but slow perfomance.. maybe in the future works better
