BIS-B Push, Gears, & SQlite Coming Soon…
December 5th, 2008 by Ronen Halevy
Just got my hands on some great slides from the BlackBerry Technical Seminar that just happened. I’ll put them up and combine the relevant ones. Nothing ground breaking or game changing but good to know if you like to be a BlackBerry know-it-all. Thanks to one of our readers for sending this in!
These 3 slides are from the BlackBerry Technical Seminar by Mike Kirkup about "Breaking New Ground with the BlackBerry." I found 3 of his points very interesting:
- Gears support – kind of like Google gears
- BIS-B Push applications – Push to BIS public devices (Makes WebSignals irrelevant) and push data to applications (think IM clients)
- SQlite applications on device – Think about a database of information on your BlackBerry like a clients list or price list

Hey, I am realy glad to know about SQLite. I have made myself a couple of cross-platform desktop applications with SQLite and I just love it! SQLite is small, fast, simple, reliable, cross-platform and tremendously useful. It goes well with everything.
