  • KB16451 – Known issues with BlackBerry Enterprise Server 4.1 Service Pack 6 for Novell GroupWise
  • KB16438 – Unable to complete an upgrade to BlackBerry Enterprise Server 4.1 Service Pack 6 due to an error reported executing a SQL statement
  • KB16447 – Message flow may be degraded or stopped after upgrading to BlackBerry Enterprise Server 4.1.6 for Novell GroupWise
  • KB16448 – Past Meeting Requests are resent to organizers and invitees after applying Service Pack 6

“An email is being sent to all customers who downloaded SP6 to make them aware of these issues, recommending them not to apply the Service Pack if they have not done so already. Service Pack 6 will be reposted along with a Maintenance Release to address these issues as soon as possible.” (New there had to be a reason why we have to fill out those forms all the time for downloads).

If customers have already applied SP6 and have not run into issues, they should remain on the Service Pack, rather than downgrading. The major issues only occur before/during the upgrade, and larger environments are more susceptible to the performance impact from the increased load.

Provide the KB articles to explain the known issues and the reasons it was removed from the BlackBerry.com website. Advise that we expect Service Pack 6 to be reposted along with a Maintenance Release to address these issues sometime in December/January, and to check back on the website.

If a customer has already downloaded Service Pack 6 and wants to apply it regardless of the known issues, be sure that they are following the workarounds prior to upgrading to update the database schema and enable Service Book throttling. This will minimize the impact of these issues after upgrading, however there is no workaround to the meeting request resends, so they should accept the risk of this occurring prior to upgrading.

If a customer is experiencing a business impacting issue that is known to be addressed by Service Pack 6, and cannot wait for the release to be reposted, please speak with an Analyst. We will evaluate these on a case by case basis.

Note: Two of the articles above do not seem to have been posted yet as of writing this post, as soon as they are available I will update this post.
