Back in the day when I had my T-Mobile 7100t I had one feature that I loved. I could hold down the # key to toggle between vibrate and my previous profile. I used it all the time. Then I switched to my 8700c and it no longer worked!
I thought that RIM removed the feature. I asked Nate, Luis, Luciano, & others to check on their 8XXX series devices and it did not work for them. Even when they had dial from homescreen disabled it still tried to create a speed dial key.
Then Gareth told me to hold down the # key on my Bold and I was shocked when it worked!!! BOOOYAHHH! Looks like RIM returned the feature!
Thanks a TON RIM!
PS: Sorry if this is something everybody knew already but this is news to me!

already knew that – though I remember it as the Q key that I have to press – for quiet.
also, the A key will lock your phone for you.

Hi,
Rather then device specific it seems to be OS dependent. This because it does work on my Pearl 8100 which I recently upgraded to version 4.5 build 4.5.0.102.
Cheers,
Pim

So maybe it is only for the Bold and Pearl models? Sent via BlackBerry by AT&T

If you have 4.2 or 4.5 on the 8700 it worked by pressing the mute key. On the bold the mute goes to standby.
