OS 4.6: BlackBerry Browser Bookmarks Now Let You Set Emulation View & JavaScript Support Per Bookmark

On to the next thing I noticed while playing around with my Bold with OS 4.6 that I did not notice in any of the reviews that I read. As I said before, feel free to ignore this if you already knew about this feature but this is the first I have heard of this option. The OS 4.6 browser now lets you set quite a few options for each bookmark that you create. I checked my OS 4.5 Curve and it did not have these options before. I guess there are some perks to checking out all the features again…

It lets you specify the:

  • Browser you wish to open the site with (WAP/WiFi/Internet/BES)
  • Browser Identification / Emulation (Auto/Firefox/BlackBerry/Internet Explorer)
  • View of the site (Auto/Column/Page)
  • JavaScript support (Auto/Enabled/Disabled)

I have been asking for ages to be able to set the browser identification per website in the settings but this is just as good. Now I can set the browser identification in the bookmarks for sites like Reuters and others so that I no longer get the mobile site.
