Verizon-Alltel Gets OK From Justice Dept – FCC To Vote Tomorrow
The Justice Department has given the thumbs up to the Verizon Alltel deal that we have mentioned quite a few times. There were concerns a bit back that this deal was in question due to financial issues but it looks like things are moving forward. I though I would mention this since quite a few of you are on Alltel and will be interested if this goes through.
The FCC is going to vote on this tomorrow (Nov 4th) and give their final approval. The Justice Department did set the condition that Verizon divest 100 markets in 22 states where the two carriers now overlap. It should be interesting to see what that means.
This merger would make Verizon the largest carrier with 83 million subscribers. That’s a pretty audience for the Storm…
