Internal AT&T Bold Documents – $299 AFTER $100 Rebate

Jason @ BBNews got his hands on some internal AT&T Bold documents detailing the launch of the Bold. Nothing crazy for the most part except for one major point.

It is fun to see how AT&T is pitching the Bold to their channel partners. One crucial point is that there will be a $100 rebate from 11/2-12/25 bringing the 2-year contract price to $299 AFTER REBATE. That means that it will be $549.99 without a contract, $399.99 with a 2 year contract, and $299 after contract and rebate.

When the $299 price point was bounced around previously, nobody said that it would be after a rebate. I hate rebates! They thought that the Bold would not compete with the iPhone due to the iPhones lower $199 price point, but this just makes it worse.

Nice docs. I agree that its priced way too high, especially to compete with the Iphone. I won’t buy the Bold at that price, I’ll wait for the Javelin. :)

    Oh wow, FAIL.

The Javelin is in my sights anyway…

  3. Being a long time AT&T user, I knew better. I knew it would be $299.99 from AT&T after rebate. I had planned to get it from a AT&T business channel which doesn’t deal with rebates, so for me it would of been 299 straight out.

However I’ve learn that Best Buy will be selling it for $349.99 and offering Rewards Zone members (which I am) a 20% discount from now till November 1st. So with that it would bring the price to $279.99, cheaper than the AT&T 299 after rebates.

I’ve spoke to a couple reps at Best Buy in New York City on 86th & Lexington, on different days and both are sticking with them selling it this Thursday or Friday, so I will be there to definite check and pick up if it is there.

  4. Makes me wonder now if that $549 price is after rebate too? A $649 price would be more in line with the $679 Best Buy price…
