imageThose of you waiting for a newer version of the Bold OS today is your lucky day. Our secret agent 003 and Evo sent in a link for 4.6.0.168. Not much of a version bump from .167 but hey it is better than nothing.

I know some people have been having some crazy problems with the OS for the bold, hopefully this one will fix some of those problem. Again if you do not know what you are doing then we advice you not to upgrade unless you know what you are doing.

You can grab the latest copy at this link http://www.megaupload.com/?d=SCXG0N5K and let us know how this one works for you.

  1. The Megaupload File does not work, error initializing setup file… tested 3 downloads with same result, currently donwloading the RapidShare one.

  2. The upgrade works well. Been running for a number of hours and enjoying it. Definately more memory available after the upgrade. Worthwhile upgrade.

I’m running 167 which is a huge improvement over 98 which came with the phone. 98 was slower, and I often got the stop watch while it was processing; so far no downsides to 167

  4. seems to be a little faster then .167 , also have about 10 more megs free apposed to .167
so far i cant find a single glitch

  5. I hope .100 for 8310 will leak soon :-)

  6. battery issue for me. Just installed it last night and it was working perfect and faster. i left it plugged into my comp usb with full battery overnight. Checked it today and the battery’s totally drained. that’s like within 12 hrs. Also my comp goes into sleep mode so wasn’t charging but the battery was full b4 i left.

hmmm, probably the faster..explains the battery drain. Are you sure you didn’t have anything power draining application enabled like Google maps (GPS), WiFi, messengers (yahoo, Msn, G-mail or E-Buddy – the masters of power drainers especially E-Buddy)?

P.S.: I’m just a Bold wanna be so I can’t test it myself but, from my Pearl 8100 experience, that’s what I get.

So what’s the consensus here…? is this worth the effort?

  9. Posted by: Amir Saad

Yes, it’s definitely worth the upgrade. My free program memory increased from 7 MB to 30 MB. The rest looks pretty much the same to me.

Just upgraded from .124 to .168. Seems to fixed the “JVM 523 error”. But I got this random reboots once in a while. I don’t know is it just me or what… Anyone else have the same issue??

  11. I am still on .162 .. where do I find 168?
