Arun at Pyxis Mobile let me know that they have a competition once a year to see what their teams can develop in one day with no additional code. They use their Application Studio product to develop the application. This year they have two competing ideas, QuickFlix and Mobile Casino. QuickFlix is a NetFlix account management application for BlackBerry that lets you manage your NetFlix account on the go. Kind of like the NetFlix mobile website with more flexibility.
They are asking readers to vote as to which application they will develop and release. This little contest will determine which internal application they develop will see the light of day. Since the QuickFlix application will support the BlackBerry my vote goes for it.
Their pitch for the application is:
Manage your Netflix account.
Read movie reviews.
View movie news.

I did not find where to vote but the contest was a week ago and apps are all done developing. The vote is for which is “released”? Reading through, I get the idea that more apps are coming?
If I could have found where to vote, I would have voted for the casino of the two since I don’t use Netflix.

Netflix for sure needs a good mobile site!! Managing my queue shouldn’t have to be that hard from my BlackBerry. Would we ever see the Netflix “Watch Instantly” feature on a 3G BlackBerry? With all the DRM issues I doubt it. I can’t even use it under Linux yet!
