E*Trade Mobile Now Supports The Bold – Sort Of

Just heard from David that E*Trade’s Mobile application now works on the Bold. Not sure how many people are trading with the current situation and also have a Bold but at least E*Trade is still updating the application instead of just leaving it stagnant.

I can confirm that it works on my Bold but ran into one problem. The application runs off the TCP/IP connection on your device so you need to have that setup with your correct carrier APN settings for it to work. It also does not work over WiFi so you need the TCP/IP settings below.

Not everything seems to work but this is an improvement.

For example, from their troubleshooting file:

For AT&T smartphones:

  • APN: wap.cingular
  • User name: WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM
  • Password: CINGULAR1

For T-Mobile smartphones:

  • APN: wap.voicestream.com
  • User name and password: (leave blank)

    Isn’t it funny they have instructions how to make it work on TMO when there is no TMO Bold coming!?! Enough folks must be buying them unlocked and using them here in USA. Even so, the 3G wouldn’t work, so with no wifi this sort of app would be pretty hard on EDGE I would think.

    Hmmm, I took opportunity to BUY some stocks Tuesday. After a huge drop like that is a good time to “buy low”! Also sold some stuff to incur a “capital loss” for tax purposes, AND by the end of Tuesday was selling a couple others at 10% gains over where they were last week! Its all about having a strategy and timing the execution, and this app helps a LOT with that! Hope it supports Storm with its even higher res screen!
