Before reviewing this case, I had never heard of Beyza Cases. Honestly, I’m not really sure how I could have missed them, if their entire product line matches up with this case, they should certainly be getting more attention.

The Review Unit

Not that this has anything to do with the product or the review for that matter, I thought it would be interesting to mention the form in which the case arrived at my door. The Beyza Cases Box was wrapped in a giant packaging bag. Not a box or a mailing pouch, a plastic bag. While it was a very nice plastic bag, I did find it a little humorous. The box contained a nice pull string cloth pouch with the case inside. I actually plan on keeping the pouch to reuse at Christmas time, I am always looking for a way to dress up Gift Card packaging.

I found out after a little digging at their website, that Beyza Cases is headquartered in Istanbul, Turkey. They opened their online shopping portal a little over a year ago now, and are quickly making a name for themselves. The company lives by its slogan “Technology In Style”, making high quality cases for a slew of different electronic devices. All of the cases that Beyza Cases sell are made out of top pick leather to incredibly high standards.

The case that Beyza Cases sent me was their SlimLINE case for the BlackBerry 8830. The leather choice that they decided to send is a beautiful “Vintage Brown” with a pebbly  leather style. This is not just a leather sleeve similar to the one that the BlackBerry Curve comes with, the case is padded and more rigid than the OEM case.

Putting It Through The Paces

It was only a few minutes after putting my blackberry in its case that I noticed the cutout for the LED. I was actually a little surprised when I saw it for the first time. I have to say that this has to be one of the most overlooked things on a BlackBerry Case. Any Crackberry addict will tell you how important a direct line of site to that blinking red light really is.

I was a little bit disappointed in the fact that this case did not allow access to the USB port when it was fully inside the case. I found that I could pull my Berry out a little and plug it in, but the proximity sensor does not work unless the BlackBerry is ALL the way inserter. Really that is the only thing holding this case back from an Editors Choice Award, however I would certainly give it Best In Class.

The best thing about this case is the feel. The leather has a great soft suede feel. The front side of the case is more stiff, adding protection to the screen and also making the case more durable too. The back of the case is more flexible with a padded feel to it. The whole case is felt lined with padding, incredibly soft and protective.

There is a cutout at the bottom of the screen for you to push the blackberry out. The pouch is collapsible when not in use. The name of the company has been branded into the back and the logo on the front. I really like their logo actually and have gotten many comments asking what it meant. I feel comfortable taking this case pretty much everywhere. The style of this case really goes with pretty much anything from camping in the wilderness to meetings in an office.

Summary

I really enjoyed giving this case a thorough test. I don’t know where its going to find it’s place in my life, but I am pretty that I will find a purpose for it. The functionality is great if you like to put your BlackBerry in a pocket. I do wish that there was access to the USB port for charging.

Pros

  • Looks and feels great
  • Proximity sensor
  • LED cutout
  • Easy access to your BlackBerry

Cons

  • No USB access
  • A cutout in the padding for the track ball would be great!
