Review: UniqueSkins Custom Skin Decals

I recently had the opportunity, along with some other members of the BerryReview Team, to play around with skins from UniqueSkins.Com. For those of you who may not have heard of them, UniqueSkins offers customized skins for several electronic devices, including Blackberry smartphones. What’s ‘unique’ about UniqueSkins is that you have the option of uploading your own image(s) to create a truly customizable pimping for your Berry.
In my own experience, the whole process of customizing my skins was easy. When you first visit their website, you simply choose the device you want to customize. Then, following a series of links, you’ll be taken to their interactive online ‘studio’ where you can then upload your own images or select an image from their pre-existing library (which I did).
Once you’ve chosen your image, you can size it, rotate it, expand it and place it where you want on the device. After that, you’ll have a chance to preview your design for both front and back before ordering.
Ordering was simple and fast and for those of you that live overseas, you’ll be happy to know that UniqueSkins ships worldwide. I live in the US…ordered my skins on a Thursday and received them by Monday in a nice little cardboard box. I actually ordered two sets. The first set I kept on for a week, removed it with no damage to my Curve and then easily replaced it with the new skins. Very easy.
Fellow Berryreview team member Summer, like me, also opted for an animal pattern for her Pearl while Luis went all out and really pimped his out by creating his own design (see pictures below). One thing to note, is that if you are uploading your own images be sure they are of a decent resolution or they may not reproduce sharp enough.
Getting the skins adhered to your Blackberry is easy enough but if you decide to design your skin to fit over your keys (as Luis and I did) be sure to line up the skins over the keyboard first and then work your way up to the top. Much easier that way :0)
UniqueSkins has skins available for Blackberry Devices 7100 up to the Bold (yes, they are already supporting the Bold) at a cost of $6.99 each which is extremely reasonable IMO, considering you can completely customize your skins with whatever images, words and logos you like. The skins themselves are of an excellent high gloss cast vinyl manufactured by 3M so they stay nice and snug yet can be gently removed without damaging your Blackberry or leaving any residue. UniqueSkins is the perfect way to personalize and pimp out your Blackberry!
Pros:

-3M vinyl material makes for easy adhering and removing of skins
-Skins can be designed to fit over keyboard so your entire Blackberry is pimped out
-Online interactive design ‘studio’ is simple and easy to use
-Shipping is fast and they will ship worldwide
-UniqueSkins stands behind their skins 100% so if they fade or smudge, they will replace them for free
Cons:
-Lining up skins over keyboard can be somewhat difficult, especially if skin is stretched out in the process.

I haven’t yet received them, but I ordered one for my laptop, my iTouch and a friends MacMini. I enjoyed putting it together, and thought it was all fairly well priced. I’d have done it for my Curve, but with the case I’ve got on it, wouldn’t have made much sense. I like the extra protection. Oh well, glad to see a nice sight reviewed.
