I cannot currently view the BGR link, but it appears that SMS delivery confirmation is still alive an well for my VZW 8830. After sending an SMS, a small D (for delivered) appears in the upper left corner of the sent check mark. If you open the message, you will sell "Delivered: " plus date and time.

Surprisingly, I wasn't really shocked by this, with VZW's claim to openess they can't very well expect customers who are bringing their own devices to the network to sign a contract, that is just begging for people to pass it over no matter what they may be offering all in all itks good for people and good for VZW really, people buy a device full price vzw makes $ cust gets to use the network, bring your own phone..vzw makes $ and cust gets to use their network, I expect others to follow suit after a while..heh,cincinnati bell has ran no contracts for a while now and while they are no major player, they are still in business.
