Readers- If you have $17,100 burning a hole in your pocket, please send it to me. Please do not spend it on a pre-release BlackBerry Javelin that will be on sale for probably $199 in six months. That being said, a Canadian man purchased a pre-release BlackBerry Javelin yesterday on ebay for 17,100. Seriously…
User jdavidson of Canada has a whopping 5 previous ebay purchases, none within the last year. I’m not particularly sure if that means anything or not, but everyone I know that wants to have the newest toys buys a lot more than 5 items a year off ebay. However, no body I know could justify a $16,900 loss in 6 months and still sleep at night…

Kerry Packer lost millions in gambling because he could. If you had more money than you knew what to do with, why not? Donate some, invest most, spend the rest.
Obviously the guy decided the object was worth more than the cash.

It’s my opinion that the man needs a conservator.

Fortunately, none of us are in the position of ever having to justify what we do with our cash to complete strangers.

My guess is that the buyer was RIM buying back this pre-release version to get it out of the hands of its potential competitors.
