NeoReader Mobile Barcode Application For BlackBerry
Last week NeoMedia announced that their NeoReader mobile barcode application is now available for BlackBerry. In a nutshell NeoReader uses the camera on newer devices to read barcodes and open a hyperlink. The reader reads most standard 2D barcodes using the camera including QR, Data Matrix, & Aztec.
So far it is available for the 8300, 8310, 8320, 8100, 8110, & 8120. Noticeably missing are the Bold and the CDMA variants of these devices.
Check it out at www.neoreader.com or the press release at this link and let us know if you think it is useful.

This app sucks balls.
Thanks for the heads up Cee. I’m am not really sure what the point is for these camera barcode apps. Why not just have unique urls… Seems less complicated to just use tinyurl
Same thing goes with BeeTagg… except it can’t read standard barcodes…. I guess it’s OK for keeping inventory of all your DVD’s at home and such, having the actual codes scanned, but most of those barcodes are tiny, and guess what? They show up blurry because BlackBerry Cameras aren’t exactly designed for taking Macro (close-up) shots. So you get a blurry picture that the scanner can’t really scan anyway. Until this app becomes more mainstreamed, I won’t be getting it either.
Downloaded, installed, deleted all within 10 minutes because it didn’t recognize 4 different codes. Probably due to the blurry image
After taking a pic of the code, I got a message that it was too big (the setting was at large).
Changed it to medium, and the same message.
You guessed it, changed the size to small and it worked just fine.
Easy to do.
Great App for the Blackberry !!
