My BlackBerry battery has really been taking a beating recently and I decided to pick up a new since the Bold keeps on getting delayed. I was looking around and originally I thought I would have to shell out about $20-$30 with shipping. Turns out I was wrong. With a little bit of digging I scrounged up a couple of deals from no name sellers at Amazon and Buy.com that were really good. I ended up buying the battery from Buy.com and it works like a charm. I paid less than $10 for it including shipping!
I will list the deals I found below. Let me know if you found anything better or anything for the 8100 or 8800.
- Buy.com through seller HiTechCloseout – $2.93 + $6.70 S/H = $9.63 shipped
- Amazon.com through seller DLN Enterprises $5.95 + $4.95 S/H = $10.90 shipped

I have an extra battery and it’s great. My Curve can’t take a full day if I take many pictures (once I took 280 pics in the Zoo). But with an extra battery, I am pretty well covered.

its not necessarily cheap, but…seido has an excellent extended battery…

nice thing about it too is that it comes with the replacement battery door to accomodate the battery’s size, and it’s rubber coated. So, if you live in your blackberry like I do and kill the oem battery within a couple months (or weeks) this may ultimately be a cheaper solution for you.

new manufactured LiIon batteries encounter cell death when they sit on a shelf and arent being subjected to charge cycles.
http://electronics.howstuffworks.com/lithium-ion-battery2.htm
the batteries offered for “pennies on the dollar” are wholesale closeouts, batteries that have been sitting on the shelf too long, beyond manufacturer’s “freshness” dates.
you’re simply not getting the “excellent deal” you think you are and any shortened life expectancy from them you could be attributing to “abnormal usage” is actually because of the battery itself.
isn’t chemistry a wonderful thing?
