Amischke announced a limited beta of Vlingo 1.1 yesterday that has sadly closed already. The new Vlingo promises to really improve upon the original. First of all they announced that the latest version fixes the WiFi issues and connectivity issues many people were having! Second of all it allows you to reply and forward emails & SMS using Vlingo.

vlingohome Pretty cool stuff! The beta is scheduled to end in 2-3 weeks so hopefully this update will be made public then. If you happen to be part of the beta team let us know what you think. It really looks like Vlingo is aiming to please with this upcoming release.

Yeah I’m part of the private beta and It does work. I was using jott for blackberry to dictate my emails but I can only use this while replying to emails, so the vlingo app lets me reply and forward email, sms also.
I’ve been playing with it and It just needs to recognize my voice better. I find I still have to do some retyping after it’s done thinking.

  2. Let us know how the beta goes Lance! Vlingo is looking promising. How would you compare Vlingo with Jott currently?

  3. They finally figured out the 8100 does not have WiFi. Installed and seems to work a little better.

In My opinion, Jott is a great app but can’t compare because you dont see what you spoke after, it just sends and with vlingo, you get to make corrections beforehand. even the few errors i get from speach recognition is better than what i’d receive testing jott and sending myself an email. It’s working great so far, just needs to recognize my words better.
