In case you happen to be one of the lucky people who have access to the AIM service book on your carrier… One of our readers just sent in a tip saying that AIM 2.1.32 is now available from RIM.

aimforblackberrysmartphones There is not much changed but it does bring all of the new features that came with the version 2.1 releases of Live Messenger & Google Talk. That includes the new visual interface and the ability to save chats to your memory card.

So far my carrier, AT&T, does not support AIM but if yours does you can pick up the latest version at this link: www.blackberry.com/aim/

BTW, anybody manage to find a way to get AIM to work on AT&T with RIM’s client yet?

I have 2.0.46 on my TMO 8120, and I can’t get this new version. :(

I have this new version on my Sprint Curve 8330. I like the new features, but other than that, it hasn’t been working all that well. I get disconnected when I refresh my buddy list.

  4. I’m running the OZ Instant Messaging 4.1.1 client which runs a mobile version of AIM in BB OS 4.5, but I can’t get blackberry.com/AIM to let me install either. I’m also AT&T by the way. The OZ messager can be found under “Mail and Messaging” when you go to your MediaNet home page.

Any idea where there’s a desktop installer? Might be able to trick it into installing that way.

  5. I used to have AIM 2.1.32 on my BB 8830, but had to replace the phone. When I tried to install AIM from blackberry.com/aim it said my phone was not supported! Everything else has remained the same – my phone is still an 8830, and my carrier is still Verizon and it worked just fine before.

I managed to install from a zip file off my desktop, but it says my BB is missing some files and it still won’t work!

    What gives?

    Any suggestions??
