1800Flowers Releases BlackBerry Application

I just got this press release for a new 1800flowers application for BlackBerry. Turns out that their mobile website 1800flowers.mobi was not enough. They teamed up with Digby to offer an on-device portal to purchase gifts from your BlackBerry. I can kind of see this being useful for very busy professionals who always need to send gifts. On the other hand this application did not even come close to making the cut on my BlackBerry.

18flogo2 Features include:

  • Quick access to popular and best selling flowers and gifts.
  • The ability to complete a shopping transaction in less than thirty seconds from a BlackBerry smartphone, without using a mobile browser.
  • Rich product descriptions and full-color images.
  • Address book integration, which provides the ability to input shipping information with just a few clicks.
  • Secure transactions and password protected buying.

If you are so inclined you can pick up the free application by pointing your browser to www.1800flowers.com/blackberry or you can read more in the press release.

You have got to be kidding me!! How often do you need to buy flowers to use this, and even if you did buy them that often you’d likely have a deal with a local vendor.

I like the services of one particular online store here in Brazil. I use it to send flowers and other gifts to people who live in other cities. Their delivery service is top-notch. You can choose not only the day, bul also the time, and give additional instructions, all to make sure that the person will be there to receive it. I would never be able to do that in other cities without them, maybe even in my own city. I don’t think they support mobile browsers though. You people have lots of great online services up there in North America.
