Trick To (Maybe) Get Voice Search In Google Maps

After we told you about the beta voice search in Google Maps for the 8100 pearl many of you tried to get it to work on other BlackBerry models. I personally had no luck until Shawn left a comment on the recent 2.2.2 release post giving a little trick to get it to work.

Googlemapsvoice He said that you need to open Google Maps and click the menu button and go to help. Then click “Reset Google Maps.

That worked for my 8330 on Sprint but it still does not work on my 8310 from AT&T.

Maybe Google is slowly rolling out the feature? Not quite sure… Try it out and let us know!

I found a link on another site that simply said new version of google maps 2.2.2. I downloaded it on my AT&T 8310 and it works just fine. Here is the link which can’t be found on the google site. http://www.google.com/gmm/apps/v2.2….noss=1&eosr=on

I just noticed that the above link was not complete. Forgive me. I’m using my BB to post this. OTA LINK: http://www.google.com/gmm/apps/v2.2.2/en/BlackBerry-42/GoogleMaps.jad?ver=v2.2.2&source=mobileproducts&source=m&hl=en&noss=1&eosr=on

  3. i’m having no luck with 2.2.2 on my 8320 (t-mobile).

I also with an 8320 (T-Mo) can’t get it to work. I have v2.2.2 and tried the reset trick, but no go. Has ANYONE with an 8320 gotten this to work? KazooSparton didn’t say which model was used.

  6. 8310 on local provider network (Centennial Wireless) uses BIS.

  7. dint work for me either on at&t 8300 with .52 and version 2.2.2 gmaps.

  8. maybe my problem is related to os 4.5.0.69…

  9. Posted by: Nikolaus

No I don’t think it’s the OS version. The 8320 in general is more difficult for data connections unless that 3rd party developers really know what they are doing.

Worked for me on vzw 8130!

  11. GMaps 2.2.1 and 2.2.2 not wokring on AT&T 8310 with std OS 4.2 – same result after ‘reset’. Shame…

  12. I have a 8320 and I got it to work on the first try but yesterday I got a new 8320 because the trackball broke and not I cannot get 2.2.2 to work on the new curve.
