Sprint’s Airave Mini Cell Tower Now Available

Sprint has finally released the Airave home cellphone tower that we mentioned before. The price is still too high in my opinion but the idea is very interesting. PhoneScoop just let us know that the Airave is now available for purchase from Sprint for $99.99.Airave2

The pricing breaks down like this:

  • $4.99/month to use the Airave but minutes are still deducted from your plan
  • $10/month for unlimited calls through the Airave
  • $20/month for unlimited calls for a family plan

Well I left sprint in order to take advantage of T-Mo’s 8320 Curve on their Hotspot@Home plan. Only $10/month for my family plan, and ALL of those minutes are unlimited. Faster data too. If take a picture and want to e-mail it, it’s gone in a flash. Does Sprint even have any good phones to make this worth while? I doubt the phones/plans will be open enough to allow you to make free calls from any open wifi location (bars/restaurants/cafe) like you can with T-Mo.

  2. Charge your customers $4.99 a month to use their broadband connection with their phone, and on top of that, deduct the minutes they use from their monthly plan.

No doubt, even if you have a plan with unlimited minutes, you’ll need to purchase the $10.00 or $20.00 a month plan to have unlimited Airave minutes.

It’s no wonder Sprint is falling apart.
