BBNotePad 1.0.4 – Free Simple Text (.txt) File Editor

Tom let me know about the release of a simple free text file editor/creator application. The developer released it on BBforums and according to early reports it works like a charm.

textpad Features include:

  • A simple text edit software with the following functions
  • Open and save text files in BB memory and BB SD card(Max 64,000 bytes)
  • Open ANSI, UNICODE, UNICODE-BE and UTF-8 text file formats.(Window)
  • Save file in UTF-8 format.
  • This software is developed in JDE 4.2.1, so it will work well for 4.2 firmware.
  • If you are using non-English languages, use Unicode or UTF-8 file formats for good compatibility

The developer is asking for donations to help him pay for the App signing key that RIM requires to use their protected API’s. If you feel so inclined send him some cash through Paypal at qinjg(at)163.com

Check out the application and download the installer at BBForums. Troy Brown was kind enough to hook us up with an OTA option at this link. Thanks for the tip Tom

  1. Would be better if it didn’t prompt you a hundred times when trying to access your memory in order to open a file.

It doesn’t “work like a charm” just yet. It has issues with OS 4.5. Read all about it here:

I just hope the author eventually accepts donations, gets a RIM certificate and, while at it, improves a few other things too.

Hmm not that impressed. It seems very basic. I also agree, there is only so many times that you want say yes to entering memory. I think in the long run this could be a great app. Oh and it would be great if you could email, SMS etc your notes!!
