AT&T Now Supports Windows Live Messenger & Yahoo Messenger! No Hacks Necessary

I am not sure if I am the first to notice this but there is a new link on the BlackBerry Help page at mobile.blackberry.com. It now lets you search to see what instant messaging applications are available for your BlackBerry.

wlm2[1] wlm2[2]

Just go to www.blackberry.com/instantmessaging/ from your BlackBerry!

You then click the search button and it will tell you what instant messenger applications supported by your BlackBerry.

Once I resent my service books AT&T is showing: Google Talk, Windows Live Messenger, & Yahoo! Messenger!!!

Yeah, its been around for at least 2 weeks now. I use an 8100c pearl and I was clicking the messenger page for fun and there it was….
    I have all 3 installed and yes…you don’t need any hacks now…

I feel sorry for all those who bought other messenger services like beejive or so…:-(

One catch, they drain the battery very fast…

The problem is that WLM tells everyone on your contacts list that you are on a mobile device so if you want it to be indistinguishable from your PC (like I do) we are SOL. I may keep beejive because it looks like you’re on the pc when you are mobile.

Fyi - Yahoo! Messenger now shows up in the supported apps via http://www.blackberry.com/instantmessaging/ but I still get the “service not enabled for this handheld” despite resending service books and a reeboot! BB 8310 on AT&T.

WLM looks nice. Kinda reminds me of the blackberry messenger with the difference that you can comunicate with non-blackberry users that are logged in to computer… it even has the options to show your IM’s in the message list, much like the BB Messenger

Hey guys I did not try the yahoo app. I tried the msn app which showed up from the search and it worked so I assumed that yahoo did also. I just don’t even have a yahoo account to test it with. I guess when you assume… :)

I just went and talked to ATT customer service, apparently they do not support the yahoo messenger downloaded from the blackberry site…they just support the OZ Messenger from MediaNet. They are saying its not compatible with their phones. Yet Blackberry RIM made sure there is a working version for the blackberrys.

    confusing….

I can get MSN working But EVEN after resending my Service Book AND reseting Nothing Seems too Work so I just deleted it. Any suggestions on How to get the App too work for an 8310?
