Verizon Free Mobile Banking Application

I know I have been wanting more of my banks to support mobile access so I guess this is good news. I just wish it were not limited to Verizon only. Verizon just released a FREE application that lets you access your bank accounts and perform a few basic functions.

So far it gives you:

  • Account Balance and Transaction History — Get account balances and account transaction history.
  • Transfers — Transfer funds between eligible accounts at the same financial institution.
  • Bill Payment — View and pay bills when enrolled in their financial institution’s Bill Pay service.
  • Mobile History — View the last five transactions successfully completed on their mobile devices.

Verizon is stating that the application is free so this sounds great for Verizon users. Currently Wachovia, Regions, SunTrust, USAA, Synovus, America First Credit Union (AFCU), Arvest, Bancorp South, FirstBank, South Financial and BECU are supported in the application. Since they seem to be missing all the big players I hope Verizon is working on adding big names like Bank Of America, CitiBank, & WAMU.

The application is compatible with the 8130, 8330, & 8830.If you bank was mentioned above just head on over to from your BlackBerry and click the mobile banking option.

Thanks to DavidB for sending in the press release

  1. Was bored and curious and found that I was able to install this application on Alltel 8130. I unfortunately do not have any of the banks listed so I can not confirm that it works very well.

  2. How did you manage to pull that off? You just went to the site from your berrys browser?

  3. Yeah, sure did.

  4. I wasted my time since my bank is not listed. I had hoped it included Credit Card accounts, but it doesn’t. Here is the list as of 07/21/08 of supported banks – might save you from downloading…

    America First
    Carolina First
    Mercantile Bank
    Bank CaroLine

“We are alwaus adding new providers to Mobile Banking. If you do not see your provider on this page, please check bank at a later time”

  5. Bank of America already has their own stand alone website. Works pretty well.

  6. I agree Ryan. It is a waste. I also think this has been on there for at least a month. Nothing new. COMPLETE waste of time.
