HOT!!! RIM Officially Releases BES 4.1.6 (Service Pack 6)

SanaTizer just sent in a tip that RIM has posted BES 4.1.6 on their website. That means that Service Pack 6 of BES 4.1 is now official! This is a bit of a surprising move to me but hey I won’t complain.

BES 4.1.6 brings:

  • HTML email to BES emails by default (no hack needed)
  • Support for IBM Lotus Sametime 8.0
  • Support for Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007
  • Controls for new RIM released applications
  • Some sort of new Calendar Synchronization tool for BES admins
  • And a bunch of other things like renaming services and database changes

If you are a BES admin you can pick up the new service pack at this link. The release notes can be found at this link. Just click on the link that says release notes. 🙂

What did annoy me in the release notes was this one line:

Research In Motion (RIM) plans to discontinue support for the “You were BCC’d” portion of messages as of BlackBerry
Enterprise Server version 5.0

Why would they do that?
