Verizon Finally Opens Its Network… To A Modem
David sent in this article he found on Engadget. Turns out that the AP tracked down the first device to take advantage of Verizon’s “OPEN” network.
Guess what it is? It’s a simple monitoring device for gas containers to monitor the levels and text message their remaining capacity to a central location to notify them when they need to be refilled.
Yay for Verizon’s Open Development Initiative! Are you really surprised?
To think that some people thought that this would mean Verizon would finally get some cool devices. Turns out it is just more of the same old crap… Verizon even admits to having very few companies interested in developing cellphones or consumer devices under the initiative and they have no clue when they would come out.
