BlackBerry OS 4.5.0.46 Found Online For 8100, 8310, 8320, & 8820

Okay guys & gals welcome to another round of “BlackBerry OS found online.” Last round was sponsored by Google. This round is brought to you by the flood of user emails over the weekend about OS 4.5.0.46 making its rounds online. This latest version reportedly brings slightly faster web browsing, slightly faster boot up time (by a few seconds), and a bit better camera quality. They also seem to be working on the memory leak issue which seems to have been minimized.

The latest was thanks an anonymous donor who found them on RapidShare
8310, 8320, 8820 – rapidshare.com/users/5EK9JJ
8100 – rapidshare.com

The links can also be found at MegaUpload thanks to the guys at MyBBShop at this link.

Note: Once again I cannot confirm that these will be stable or even work (though I have received emails confirming all of them do in fact work). Proceed at your own risk!

  1. I just upgrade to 44..what (if any) difference???

  2. I upgraded to .46 Friday night. It is, so far, very stable and much, much faster. It boots up in way less than a few seconds faster. Boot time for me was cut in half. Or very close to it. Everything just seems zippier. The browser def seems faster as well. Can’t comment on picture quality yet. Maybe later. I think .46 is definitely a worthy upgrade. The best so far, I think.

  3. Sorry if this has an obvious answer, but will it work for my 8130? And for future reference, if something will work for the 8100, can I assume it’ll work for the 8130?

  4. Your Device has a specific OS, if is for the 8100 it won’t even recognized an OS for 8110

  5. Anyone have an idea is this new OS is supported on the standard 8300 ??

  6. Word of warning! Many people have been reporting their Berry has started restating during calls. Most were unable to discover why and swapped their devides for new ones. I had the same problem after upgrading to OS 4.5.0.37 and .44. Found the issue to be with BES (phone only restarted during calls on 4.5 once BES was activated (I’ve spent hours testing this, so trust me – everything fine with BIS until you activate). So if you are going to upgrade and you’re on BES, be warned. I was on O2 UK with an unlocked 8310. Can’t say if the problem will repeat on other devices / carriers. Interested to know if anyway experiences the same.

  8. I am over here in Canada and after sending service books I have all these options on the Bell network :)

  9. Disregard my comment. Meant to be at another thread 😉

  10. I am installing in this moment…. 😀

  11. Question about the different locations. Rapidshare has the files broken into two WinRar parts but MegaUpload has them as one file but its also not working since it claims my IP address is d/l a file which I’m not but somewhere in the nether regions of the WWW someone is on that IP? So the question is do you need to do anything special with the two WinRar files from rapidshare beyond installling. I’m not a beta person by nature so I don’t want to hose the machine.

  12. I have been running .44 on 8310, BES enabled for over week. No problems except for streaming video causes a reboot when exiting the viewer. (the first time I loaded it semi-bricked my phone so I had to use JL_Cmder to wipe it) Everything else runs great. I might hold off on .46 since .44 is doing so good for me.

  13. I’ve upgraded my 8310 to .46 and I find it by far the most performant and stable release. Nothing to complain about.
PS: Don’t forget to remove the quincy .cod’s and the vendor.xml 😉

  14. I had the restarting over and over on .37 and .42 on my curve 8320 and got .44, worked fine accept BB messenger kept erasing my contacts. Got .46 now, working great so far, seems faster in every aspect. No bugs found so far. Post your phone models when commenting on new OS .46 please.

  15. Btw. How come some vendors provide even older beta releases as “official upgrade” while on other spots on the net, these identical releases are forbidden to be posted and declared as illegal?

  16. The upgrade went well, noticed small improvements. Delete unwanted COD files from the phone to free up space sometimes so that the phone can run more efficiently. Also when I hard reset the phone it took 20 seconds to start up…..

  17. I have the 8320 T-mobile

  18. Any word on if this OS update is supported on the 8300 ??

I see one for the 8100 not the 8300 ??

  19. Ok I just recently installed v4.5.037. I own a 8310 and the FIRST thing I noticed was that I was able too Record Videos WHICH isn’t an Option on the Phone. BUT if u download this version IT IS Possible too!!!!. Another thing is THAT the Media Player is MUCH more User Friend and Has a Few added features WHICH i wont mention. ALL IN ALL I’m glad I downloaded this OS for my Phone BUT I’m still planning on Getting the Bold when it Comes out in August for AT&T.

  20. A more stable 4.5 than the 0.33 we have for CDMA would be nice.

  21. If possible can someone write down the steps to upgrade the OS, I’m on Tmo 8320 and this is my first upgrade. Im having issues once I download the new OS. what then?

    Thanks.

  22. just installed .46 and it seems a lot more zippier than .44. I like it so far. will let everyone know if i find anything wrong.

  23. After I download the files and install the software to my computer am I supposed to delete some files for it to work properly on my 8820? Do I need to delete any .COD’s or the vendor.xml? Where do I find these? Thanks!

  24. im with tmobile i did upgrade with .46 but i cant get the html email to work everything else looks great

  25. Pray tell, for the files downloaded for the 8820, how does one go about loading the new OS on the BlackBerry 8820?

  26. You can get the download by searching this Site and following the Links.

  27. I can’t believe knowone has notice to volume level on there 8310. I have used every 4.5 OS and they all worked flawless. Except for the volume decrease for ringtone and playing music. At times I miss calls because of this. You would think Blackberry Program Writes would have notice this from the first release of 4.5. I am currently running .46.

  28. I did download the files. I just cannot figure out how to load it on my AT&T BB 8820. Help!

  29. Why are none of these new OS releases for the 8300 ?? .. I see releases for what appears to be every other model but that of the 8300

    BRW

  30. What Do u think the Curve is? it’s an 8300 series? Hence 8310? hummmm

  31. In order too download the OS on ur Phone You Need too have Desktop Manager v4.5

  32. I am sorry but I think you missed what I am looking for .. Since its clear that each OS is released for a specific model .. My question was when will or will there be a relase for the model 8300 (not the series / Curve) such as 8300/8310/8320/8330 and so on .. As I note the 8100 and 8110 has a release .. Anyone have any ideas ?

    Brw

  33. They did Have a Relase BUT it was for the 8300 then it was actually the wrong phone.

  34. I’m about to attempt to DL this update, can anyone tell me do I need to delete any vendor files? Im running a Tmo 8320

    Thanks

  35. Yes u Need too Delete your Xml file.

  36. If I had already the 4.5.0.37, do I have to uninstall it before installing the 4.5.0.46? or I just install it over it?
    Please advice, thanks

  37. I have a 8820 from ATT. Will it be ok to download this update and will I be able to load it on blackberry phone. Also, what are the steps to get the software installed on my phone.

    Thanks

  38. Why do I have to delete the vendor.xml and the other file before installing 4.5 OS?…..Also can someone tell me HOW to?

secondly, I work for KPMG and we use the 8310 to hook up our internal Microsoft Exchange Server mail thru these phones. Will there be any issues with my firm’s email coming thru my 8310 after I install the 4.5 OS ?

    thanks

  39. There Might Be, if your using a Business Server, you’d have too ask.
