It seems that the original BBToday written by Chris Miles has been picked up and Fixed by Jason Emerick with regards to the Weather. BBToday is a simple and free today screen for BlackBerry that has been around for quite awhile. Recently it fell off the radar due to some issues with new BlackBerry devices and the weather setup. Jason Emerick has kindly fixed the weather issue.

I had some initial errors that I experienced with regards to the Weather portion of the application but this may have been resolved by a Hard Reset that I did later in the day for other reasons. When I looked at the application later in the day the Weather showed for the selected city. The errors you initially see are:
- “Lookup Location ID” search from the Application hangs both Devices tested with regardless of Location ID or City Name already been added.
- “Null Error” or “Tunnel Time Out” error when update information for the Weather (even though a correct Location ID was added).

You will need to add the City name in the location ID field and then do a Lookup. I also found it to hang at one point when scrolling through to select the correct City when I wanted to change from current City selected.

The view on both devices tested with (Pearl and 8310) shows the Email Accounts labels to overlap text, especially if multiple accounts are setup on the device, in my case a minimum of Three on device and Eight on the other but this is inherent from earlier versions. You can manually source the Location ID’s from http://www.aspnetresources.com/tools/locid.aspx

You can find the new 1.6 Version mobile page here, give it a try and let us know. OTA Desktop Code

Thanks for the update! As far as the overlapped text on the e-mail info, I see the same on my 8830. Might it be possible to for Chris or Jason to modify the app to to move the counts to the left (as they are relatively fixed format) and move the account names to the right (as the length varies? Just a thought…

Yes the overlapping text is an annoyance and kills the email part of the app. Also the stocks are broken. If these two could be fixed we would have a winner again. How about it Jason?

The stocks and overlapping text have been on my radar to fix, however, I have been very busy of late so I haven’t had time to look into these issues. I will see what I can do in the next month or so.

I installed the 1.6 trying the OTA first and got an error when I tried to start it “Error starting bbtoday Class ‘org.w3c.dom.Document’ not found” I thought it may have just been a problem with the OTA download and tried the Desktop version and get the same error. I’m installing it on a 7250. Any ideas as to what this error is?
