GreenFinder - Golf Rangefinder Using GPS
Merik just sent in this golf application that we had not mentioned before on BerryReview. I guess golf and BlackBerrys just vibe well. This latest commercial golf application acts like a rangefinder for your BlackBerry as long as it has built in GPS. (8110, 8310, 88xx) It probably wont work with Verizon blocking their GPS.

Its got some really slick features listed below. My favorite was the audible range alerts where it will speak the distance. The only downside is that the $35 price tag is a yearly subscription.

GPS distance Uses the built-in GPS to display the distance to the front, center, back of greens and hazards along the fairway.
Speaks the distance Speaks the distance to the center of the green, so you don’t even need to look at the screen.
Shot Length Pressing one button records where you took a shot and allows GreenFinder to display your shot Length.
Real-time course downloads Downloads courses in real-time - when you need them. No need to pre-load the courses you want to play, and no limit on the number of courses you can download.
Knows where you are Using GPS, the software knows where you are and which course you are playing.
Directions to the course Because the software knows where you are and where the course is, it can display directions on how to get to the course.
Mark your own course New courses are added every week, but you can always mark your own courses.
One low yearly fee No per course fees or software upgrade fees.
No additional device to carry You are already carrying your BlackBerry smartphone, so why charge and carry another device?
No computer required You don’t need a PC to set-up the software or download courses. Everything happens in real-time over-the-air.

To those who blasted me for continuing to complain about Verizon preventing use of the built-in GPS receiver in my BB 8830, this is exactly the sort of application I desire to be able to use. And even if I DID pay the $10/month for VZNavigator service, there’s no evidence the GPS would start working for an application like this.
