Vodacom Goes Live With BIS 2.5 – Who Else?

Vodacom has just launched BIS 2.5 ahead of many other carriers who are scheduled for the next week or two. Sorry guys if you don’t have it enabled already but when you do let us know!

As you must have heard from several reviews and posts,  BIS 2.5 brings HTML Emails, Native Attachment File Downloading and Windows Live Messenger.

There is still uncertainty at this time on the Windows Live Messenger requirements between RIM and the Carrier and at the moment is only available to select carriers. This is still pending some clarification, hopefully we will not have to wait much longer after all carriers move to BIS 2.5

With HTML formatted emails you will not need to resend service books for the viewing of HTML Emails after the rollout of BIS 2.5

The requirements other than just being on BIS 2.5 will be that your handheld firmware will need to be upgraded to latest BlackBerry OS versions.

Yeah but the thing that sucks it you still have to wait til 4.5 OS till really take advantage of html email, and doc editing. If your on CDMA (like me) it looks like its gonna be awhile still. :(
