Latest OS 4.3 For Sprint 8130 Fixes Memory Leak & Data Connection

Joe just let me know that Sprint has released an updated OS 4.3 for the 8130. This version is 4.3.0.127 compared to the older 4.3.0.71. According to to Joe this latest version was made available on 6/11/08.Sprintnew8130OS

Joe points out that the major difference is that this new version fixes two problems he was experiencing:

  1. The dreaded memory leak
  2. & the dropped calls issue

Joe points out that sadly Sprint has not added MMS functionality with this release and probably never will…

You can pick up the latest version from this link. Just select BlackBerry. Not sure if this will work on other carriers…

Thanks Joe!

I have a Sprint 8130 and I installed the exact same version but by NTELOS since they released it earlier. Are these the exact same thing?

The title got it right but what problems I was experiencing is a little off. It fixes the memory leak issue and the dropped data issue. My phone, as well as others for the 8130 were having an issue with the data stopping when using the browser. You would get a message that read something like, “You are currently in an area that cannot handle data.” Or something to that effect and the IXEV display would go away. It wouldn’t work again till you recycled your mobile network.

Personaly I have never dropped a call on my Sprint Pearl. ;-)

As far as NTELOS. I have no idea what that is. I am fairly new to BB, having only owned one for about 5 months.

I still have a memory leak issue. I installed this version when it came out from NTELOS.
