Pocket Informant 1.0 For BlackBerry Coming In Late Summer
Anybody know what “Late Summer” means in non-vaguish?
Robbie just forwarded the latest WebIS newsletter that includes mention of an upcoming release of Pocket Informant for BlackBerry. They will be publishing some more info on their website in the next 30 days. I know many BlackBerry converts were Pocket Informant diehard fans so this is probably great news. In case you don’t know what Pocket Informant is you can read up on Version 8.0 for Windows Mobile.
The details from the newsletter:

This will be version 1.0, which will have only a fraction of the features of Windows Mobile version 8.0.

Jay - yes its not going to be feature compared to PI 8. Of course not. You’re not going to build PI 8 for BB in 1 year. Its 1.0! But it will be a major step forward from what the BlackBerry can do today, though it will *not* be marketed at PI8 for BB. Its PI for BB *1.0.*. We do expect to have feature parity in the future.

Alex Kac,
Thank you for the clarification. Your press release says to look at version 8, so people will think it is the same. Maybe you can change your press release to not tell people to look at a version 8?
June 12th, 2008 17:41
So I’m not sure where it says to look at version 8 except on the WinMobile side. I see 3 sections - WinMobile, BlackBerry, iPhone.

Alex Kac,
Sorry, not you. Ronen Halevy says “you can read up on Version 8.0 for Windows Mobile.”
This is his web site and I thought he just posted your press release when he said that.
Sorry, his mistake. Not you.

Sorry Jay my bad for the confusion. Honestly I was just saying that the basic idea of the application would probably model around the windows mobile version
