That’s a really good question. RIM has been developing a lot of the great apps that have come out recently (including facebook 1.6) – or at least their name is on the app as the vendor in the app world. Perhaps as someone else suggested, they built out all the functionality then used it for Flickr. I’m really not sure how that whole process works, but it seems logical.

If it’s been done for 10 months so why can’t we download it yet?

I have been using the Flickr app, which I have been happy with, but would prefer to use Picasa so it syncs with my GMail Account…

I think they must have worked a deal with Fickr first. The Flickr for Blackberry application came out a short time ago – maybe Blackberry is giving them some sort of headstart? Flickr probably negotiated a better deal than Picasa…

Yes I also remember this. What gives? Maybe they realized they don’t want to make free SW anymore, which will lessen the appeal of the BlackBerry. Maybe that’s also why I don’t have access to OS 4.3 or 4.5 for my 8230 yet.
