Owners Lounge Resorting To Bribery? $10 Gift Card

Okay this is the second such promotion that RIM has run. I am not sure if it is still available since I heard about it this afternoon.
You go to the owners lounge and login. Click on the promotions menu item on the left. Then click on the tell me more link on the promotion box with the cupcake.
I still don’t understand what RIM hopes to gain with these giveaways? Why don’t they just save the money and actually improve the owners lounge?

I think it’s a bit rude for them to leave the link up after the promotion has ended. Makes me want to visit their site less, not more (if that was their intention).

I got all happy thinking I was going to get a cupcake or something lol. To my avail it ended sucks a lot. :-/ and I really wanted something sweet to eat yesterday.
