Loopt - Another Free Social Networking Tool For BlackBerry
I just got an email from Loopt that they have released a BlackBerry client for their social network. Personally I have no clue what Loopt does that Facebook does not but I am not much of a social networking buff.
So far the application seems to only be available for Sprint BlackBerry devices but supposedly Verizon BlackBerry support is coming soon. I am not sure why they would want to lock the network to only Verizon and Sprint but I guess that is their prerogative.
I did find that the registration link lets you choose to be from all of the different wireless carriers so maybe it works on other carriers? The application also seems to have a built in AOL IM client.
If somebody wants to sign up you can register for free at the link below:

Hi Ronan,
Appreciate the feedback about Loopt! Just wanted to give some more info about Loopt to you and the readers here.
Loopt is a location-based mobile social mapping service. It’s different from Facebook in that it offers real-time location information about your friends who also use Loopt. We’ve developed a Facebook application (as you’ve shown here) so that when you update using Loopt from your mobile device, the change will get reflected on Facebook.
Wrt general device coverage, Loopt is already available on many Sprint/Nextel and Boost devices, and will be on Verizon very soon as well. For Blackberries, Loopt is on the Sprint Curve (8330), World (8830), and Pearl (8130), and support is coming up for the broader Blackberry base. We’d love for you and the readers here to check out Loopt, and give us feedback if possible http://getsatisfaction.com/loopt/topics/try_out_loopt_on_your_blackberry.
If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to us at blackberry (at) loopt.com, or directly to me, min (at) loopt.com.
Thanks!

Have you checked out WHERE? It’s an LBS app that has over 70 widgets like Yelp, Eventful, StubHub, and it even has a social networking widget called Buddy Beacon. Buddy Beacon doesn’t compete with Facebook, it makes Facebook better. Just sync Buddy Beacon with your Facebook acount so you can update your status, see what your friends are up to, and check out their location on a map. Best part about it is you can do it all from your cell phone. Check it out, it’s pretty cool. WHERE is available on AT&T, BlackBerry, Nokia, Sprint, Alltel, Boost, Helio, and more. Visit http://www.where.com or http://www.where.com/buddybeacon for more info.
Thanks!
