Palringo – Another MSN/ICQ/AIM/Yahoo/GTalk/Jabber Client
I know there are a ton of BlackBerry specific instant messenger applications. The problem is that I am the type who has to try every new application to see if it is better than the current one I use.
Josep just let me know about an announcement by Palringo that their instant messenger client now supports the BlackBerry. Pretty damn cool. I have not had a chance to try it myself but it supports all the major networks so its worth a shot.
UPDATE: I am having a bit of trouble getting this installed on my 8310 even though it says that the Curve and Pearl BlackBerry devices are supported. Let me know what you get…
The main website www.palringo.com does not mention the BlackBerry support but their Blog has just announced support with screenshots. You can download the application directly to your Berry for free from www.palringo.mobi.

Let me know what you think!

I got it installed on my 8830 but now I’m having problems adding the different IM services.
I got installed on my 8120 but doesn’t work.
I can’t get connected by using any kind of account. It says always not connected retring
I’m so DONE with “yet another IM client for Blackberry” until someone figures out how to make one that also integrates with Blackberry Messenger.
“To make one that also integrates with Blackberry Messenger” is something that only RIM itself can do since the BB Messenger is a proprietary network available to paying subscribers only.
.
I’ll bet this new application won’t support BIS-B, and if it does, I’ll wait until the current problems are straightend out. That’s what I read BerryReview.com for.
What the heck, I had to try it. It is beautiful and quick/responsive, but can’t get a connection. Most likely, no BIS-B support.
Mine is so FINE amd SMOOTH! visit and check the site: http://BLKBRYTECH.blogspot.com out!
Palringo installed just fine on my Curve 8310 – the only malfunction for me was I couldn’t add any chat accounts – the “next” button wouldn’t work. I had to download the desktop client and add accounts that way. I dislike the fact that the only notification option is a beep – I’d much prefer vibration alerts (for loud/virbrate phone settings) coupled with the LED indicator flashing (for all phone settings). As well, I’d like to see a message waiting indicator on the BB’s home screen as you would with Google Talk or If you have a new sms/email message. Its a nifty program – visually appealing – but it doesn’t have me wrapped around its’ fingers.

I d’ld Palringo onto my 8310 just fine ota, but it won’t actually log in. I’ll try again tomorrow, but srsly, frustrating.
